Easter Specials anyone?

Yes, I'm one of those people who've had a quiet little grumble at times when I see the Easter Eggs hit the shelves 8 weeks after Christmas. I like to hold Easter as a special time for the soul, rather than a seasonal strategy for a commercial promotion. So from Lime Dezign. Just have a really lovely Easter. I'm going to head down to Brizzy & help with my sis' on bro's on a working bee at our Mum & Dad's. Should be nice.

Blogs are a funny things aren't they. Is there any point? or is it usually just an outlet for frustrated egos? Well, after having installed and read a few now, and witnessed what frankly seems to be a fairly over-inflated uselfulness of the majority of social media, I'm currently of the opinion that it can be very useful, but "conditions apply".

We know that industries such as entertainment, photography, mass media and politics (well they're selling too, so I'll call them an "industry"!) have embraced these online public forums and seen massive changes in how they promote. But what about us "normal" people? Does anyone else really care what we're doing?

The answer to this, I think, is most definitely "yes", but only for certain things. People are generally interested in 2 things;

What they are doing.
What someone else is doing.

However, Interest #2. is often conditional upon how it fulfills Interest #1. The industries mentioned above capture the essence of human experience, so their blogs are interesting generally. Lucky them. Most of us don't have this advantage. Our businesses offer specialist products or services that would seem irrelevant to our customers in their everyday activity. So showing off my latest brochure or website project is not really of high interest to you, and unless you form part of its target market, why should it be? It was designed for a particular purpose for a particular client

From me, a worthwhile contribution will be something that people can relate to and have an opion on, or be something that they can take with them that enriches their day in some small way, be it of a business or human nature.

The Lime Dezign Blog will be a contribution and a means of sharing to you, my clients and friends, in the form of my personal and professional thoughts on topics of interest and relevance. I hope you enjoy it enough to leave a comment or save a feed in your Outlook. I may slip in the odd website too, just to show off! ; )
